Writing Poetry

Sunday, March 31, 2019

When my dad was in elementary school, he (and probably all the schoolchildren in Indiana in the 1940's) had to memorize a James Whitcomb Riley poem.  His chosen poem, no surprise, was "Little Orphant Annie," with its dramatic line "the goblins'll git cha ef you don't watch out."

It thrill scared me every single time he would recite it, and I think I've loved poetry ever since because of him.

So, April is National Poetry Writing Month, and many of my friends are participating, writing a poem a day on a given prompt.  I think I'll give it a try, and post them here each day.

Peace.
